Some Christians think they have to shout, jerk and have a volcanic explosion every time they speak in tongues! Always remember, the more spiritual you are, the more relatable you should be. God is in the business of drawing people to Himself, not blowing them away!

Roberts Liardon tells us that praying in tongues and being spiritual should not keep you from doing what is right in the natural, either. In fact, it should help you do it better! If I had an employee that prayed so much in tongues that they didn’t do a proper job, I’d fire them! Something is wrong with you if you cannot function in the natural world!

If you become super spiritual and spooky, you’ll have no friends and you’ll feel like everyone is against you. I’ve had to tell people to stop praying in tongues and go chop wood, get a job, or just talk in their native language for awhile. Sometimes people need a reality check—they have to learn how to be relatable so they can be fruitful in God’s kingdom.

Roberts Liardon tells us that some women who are married to unsaved husbands don’t have it very easy. But if your unsaved husband comes home and all you do is pray in tongues and you never take care of the housework or your other responsibilities, why would he want to get saved and act like you?

Praying in tongues and being spiritual shouldn’t keep you from being a good husband, a good wife, a good mother, a good child, a good employee or a good citizen!

No one who is truly spiritual is going to blow up a building in Oklahoma City! Nobody that prays in tongues and truly worships Jesus is going to gather a bunch of weapons and hide out in Waco, Texas! When someone goes “AWOL” in the name of religion, it effects all of us. People that do things like that are not even religious, they’re demon possessed. They should be put in jail and rightfully punished!
